Incubator for Art, Technology and Design
NEW INC is an incubator for people working at the intersection of art, design, and technology. People at NEW INC are working on everything from new businesses, to ambitious art installations, to provocative experiments in science and urban design.
As the first museum-led cultural incubator, NEW INC was conceived of as a not-for-profit platform for furthering the New Museum’s ongoing commitment to new art and new ideas. Now in Year 8, NEW INC’s membership model continues to support a diverse range of creative practitioners with a values-driven program and safe space for gathering and developing new creative projects and businesses. In 2020, NEW INC launched ONX Studio, an XR accelerator for artists, in partnership with the Onassis Foundation. NEW INC was cofounded by New Museum’s Toby Devan Lewis Director, Lisa Phillips and Deputy Director, Karen Wong in 2014.
NEW INC’s program is committed to helping creative practitioners across disciplines develop sustainable business models. Our professional development curriculum takes the form of workshops, panel discussions, guest speakers, mentorship, social events and peer working groups. NEW INC’a member cohort of nearly 100 people represents an interdisciplinary mix of artists, designers, technologists, futurists, and creative entrepreneurs chosen via an annual open call for their experience, vision, and ambition.
